The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation prepares to roughly double in size in coming years with a massive contribution from Warren Buffett, creating a $60 billion charitable foundation to solve the world’s problems, including health issues.

Last year, the Gates Foundation spent $1.36 billion — already, approaching the World Health Organization’s budget for 2006 of $1.66 billion.
Controversy already has begun on whether the Foundation’s approach to public health issues can be improved by more attention to preventative measures.
