Bloodless Surgery Done by Boosting Red Cells

A new approach known as "bloodless surgery" boosts red blood cell counts before and after an operation, and cut blood loss during surgery.

The technique obviates the need for donated blood and is increasing in hospitals nationwide.

It also can cut infections, complications and healing time.

One of the surgeons pioneering the technique gained inspiration from treating Jehovah's Witnesses, who are against blood transfusions.
