Costs of Car Add to Health Concerns

"Contenment Without A Car" points out the financial and mental health savings made by one individual who also helped cool the peak oil phenomenon through her own choices.

Costs indicated for three years of car use included:

· $17,822 in car payments

· $5,054 in car insurance premiums

· $8,400 in gas

· $3,600 in parking (at work and at home)

· $1,800 in repairs

· $250 in car washes and oil changes

Something to think about, if telecommuting is feasible.
