Hospitalizations from Drugs Threatening Public
Thousands hospitalized annually in U.S. from bad reactions to drugs.
USA Today reported that "Harmful reactions to some of the most widely used medicines -- from insulin to a common antibiotic -- sent more than 700,000 Americans to emergency rooms each year, landmark government research shows."
Critics of alternative medicine skepticism have often pointed out that a double standard has been applied to complementary versus conventional medicine. True enough, "natural" does not mean effective nor necessarily does it even equate with 'healthy' or 'safe.' Then again, the statistics on drug reaction suggest that a medicine is prescribed by a medical doctor or provided in hospital offers no guarantee, either.
