University of Arizona Program in Integrative Medicine new women's health courses

The University of Arizona Program in Integrative Medicine has introduced two new women's health courses in its Botanicals in Medicine online series.

The integrative medicine courses on women's health are: Premenstrual Syndrome and Vaginal Health, which are now available online for CME credit.

Premenstrual Syndrome
Clinically Oriented: The following course will be presented in an interactive, case-based learning style exploring concepts unique to botanical medicine alongside the evidence of safety and benefit for botanicals (and relevant dietary supplements) scientifically researched or commonly recommended for premenstrual syndrome (PMS), as well as premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

What will you learn?
This course is designed to familiarize and update clinicians with the current state of botanical research for the treatment of PMS and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). While the primary emphasis is on botanicals, conventional therapies and relevant dietary supplements will be mentioned where appropriate for context. We estimate completing this course will take 1 - 2 hours.

Vaginal Health
Clinically Oriented: The following course will be presented in an interactive, case-based learning style exploring concepts unique to botanical medicine alongside the evidence of safety and benefit for botanicals (and relevant dietary supplements) scientifically researched or commonly recommended for vaginal candidiasis, bacterial vaginosis and atrophic vaginitis.

What will you learn?
This module is designed to familiarize and update clinicians with the current state of botanical research for the treatment of vaginitis. While the primary emphasis is on botanicals, conventional therapies and relevant dietary supplements will be mentioned where appropriate for context. This course will also explore hormonal therapies, vaginal moisturizers and lubricants, and botanical/dietary supplements commonly recommended in the public arena. We estimate completing this course will take 1 - 2 hours.
