Integrative Pain Medicine book featured in Taiwan
National Taiwan University Library features Integrative pain medicine : the science and practice of complementary and alternative medicine in pain management.
The library's site notes:
Integrative medicine guru Dr. Andrew Weil is quoted as saying in reference to integrative medicine, which incorporates complementary and alternative medicine: "Someday it will just be called good medicine." The field of pain medicine has been rapidly evolving, but the growing number of older patients with chronic pain conditions often not only do not get relief from mainstream medicine but suffer further due to drug interactions and invasive procedures. Audette and Bailey (both at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital/ Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts) introduce 23 chapters in which U.S. specialists examine the basis of pain, legal/ethical issues, trends, modalities, and models of CAM approaches to pain management. Modalities discussed include meditation, hypnosis, tai chi, aquatic therapy, acupuncture, nutrition, and Chinese herbal medicine. Annotation ?008 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
I contributed a chapter on legal issues in approaches to pain management that use complementary and alternative medicine therapies. At any rate, the book goes around the world.
