The Homeopathic Medical Society of the State of New York is having its annual convention in November in New York City.

The Homeopathic Medical Society consists of medical doctors and osteopaths who are also practitioners of homeopathy, such that they apply their knowledge and homeopathic training within the practice of medicine and homeopathy.
This is distinct from so-called ‘lay homeopaths’ who practice without any form of licensure. In most states, lay homeopaths (unless they have a separate form of health care licensure) risk prosecution for the unlicensed practice of medicine. Of course, typically such individuals fly under the regulatory radar, and in a number of states (such as Florida, Minnesota, Rhode Island, and now California), otherwise unlicensed health care providers are allowed to practice so long as they offer an appropriate public disclaimer and meet other statutory provisions.
